Within the framework of youth development amidst the crisis in the NW and SW of Cameroon and The Commonwealth Peace Award, SOPISDEW Cameroon trains over 50 youths in the North West region of Cameroon on peace building and sustainable livelihood activities.
SOPISDEW organized a first of two training for the youths in the region which successfully took place last Friday 20th Sept 2019. The over 50 participants drawn from all the subdivisions and divisions of the NW were well drilled on the integration of peace and sustainable livelihood activities for their resilience. The youths who attended this training from both rural and urban areas are expected to be ambassadors of peace in their various communities and to help in training other youths in the grassroots on the importance of dialogue, respect and mutual understanding for peace building and peaceful co existence and also to preach common wealth values.
The youths will equally gain knowledge and skills on livelihood activities with focus on animal rearing and will be provided with rabits for production and marketing as well as passing on the gift to other youths while preaching the importance of peace.
The training ended with young people developing peace messages to commemorate World Peace Day billed for 21 September. SOPISDEW NGO is determined to continue with such trainings so as to keep on creating a positive impact in the lives of youths who are often reffered to as leaders of tomorrow. To sustain the project, beneficiaries will develop a cooperative to support the livelihood and peace building efforts.
