1348 persons Registered from the IDPs need Assessment

We finally concluded the Multisectoral Needs Assessment process for IDPs in the Center and Littoral Regions of Cameroon. A total of 1348 IDPs were registered. We will like to thank our local partner Jikijem Area Credit Union Limited (JIACCUL) for the logistical support; and our international partner Engagement Global for providing technical assistance through volunteers from the ASA Programme.

We have now proceeded to matching beneficiaries to resources needed to meet their expressed needs. In this direction, we will like to thank Fotabe University of Cameroon-FUNIC and her management team care of Fotabe Elmine for already accepting to provide scholarships for a two-year professional HND training program to some young IDPs through this process.

We’re inviting other partners to join us in other aspects of the project which involve mostly economic empowerment and integration for IDPs through various livelihood activities.

On the August 01st, 2022, SOPISDEW officially launched a three month needs assessment for socioeconomic integration and empowerment of Internally Displaced Persons in the Center and Littoral Regions of Cameroon. This activity is realized in partnership with the Jikijem Area Cooperative Credit Union Ltd (JIACCUL) with the support of Young German Experts from the ASA Programme of Engagement Global. This exercise will provide information which will enable us to strategically leverage various forms of support and partnership; including microfinance services for a sustainable social and economic integration of these vulnerable groups. We’re engaging other community organizations like the Oku Cultural and Development Association (OCDA), the Oku Youth Organisations’ Network (OYON) as well as other social platforms which can mobilize IDPs in order to mobilize these communities for the process.
